Hi everyone, Mental health is a taboo subject, but more needs to be done to support those suffering with a mental illness and suicide. On the 26th November 2024, my mum, Ashleigh Allison, took her own life, on the 25th November 2024 I will be falling from 10,000 ft in a skydive with skyline skydiving to raise funds to support the charity Mind. There are more than 130 local Mind’s within the UK who work endlessly to support the 1 in 4 people struggling with their mental health. They provide services such as crisis resources and helplines that have helped to save many lives. There is currently a mental health crisis throughout the UK and a lack of funding to support mental health within the NHS. Therefore, charities like Mind are there to offer their support and hopefully prevent many suicides. My Mum suffered from mental health from a young age, up until the age of 41 when she tragically took her own life. There is a huge lack of support from services therefore money needs to be raised build resources. Communities working together is important , my Mum knew a lot of people and I believe that even if 50pence was donated it would make a huge difference. If I reach over the target, I will be donating to the charity Survivors of bereavement by suicide, as I believe and have experienced a lack of support from services after suffering from such a tragic death and there should be more out there to help those suffering. After the jump, I will be showing receipts of the money raised and what has been sent to the charities. Thank you for taking your time to read, I hope we can come together as a community to raise money for such important charities.
