Hello how are you ? I hope you are well today I thought I would ask for some help My name is Jay Austin and I work For MIKLAT mens recovery centre in beautiful Powell River. We are a non Profit company and we are always just scrapping by. So I’m asking for some donations to help some of the clients with limited funds. I had to discharge a man today due to lack of funds he was unaware that his disability funding was taken to fund him in recovery. This left him no funds to pay his bills so he had to leave treatment to take care of his wife and his bills but he was thinking to himself earlier in the day that he is good and safe and then the news came about his funding when he only received $200 his comfort allowance. His new safe environment just got flipped turned upside down he was devastated with the news and the reality that he had to leave his cheque or leave treatment. I drove this client home after getting to know him over the last week he is a good man down and out and struggling with addiction. As we talked I was upset with my self that I could not come up with the cash or our company could not come up with the funds to support him it actually made me angry that people suffering are not getting enough financial support. Treatment is for people who have money what about the people who have lost everything including hope. If we where able to get some donations we would use it to help new clients in this same situation. Sometimes it’s a couple hundred in some cases it’s more. I just wish there was more financial aid to people who are barely getting buy. Any donations would be amazing maybe we can give this man a Christmas to remember.
