On July 10, 2024 one of our biggest fears became a reality. We received a phone call that our dad, William, was in a terrible rollover accident and his truck caught fire. He was rushed to the burn ICU at UMC in Lubbock, Texas where he is currently being treated for his injuries. Those injuries include burns to approximately 20% of his body, broken C2 and T8 vertebrae, shattered left foot, broken right leg, broken sternum and a few broken ribs. He is intubated and has a chest tube in place as well. He has already had surgery for his leg and a spinal fusion for the T8 fracture, and has at least two more surgeries planned including his foot and skin grafts for the burns. He has a really long road to recovery and our wonderful mother, Shawna, hasn’t left his side since the accident has happened. We want to help relieve some of the financial stress during this difficult time so she can still be with him and not have to worry about missing work or how she will be paying their bills. They are newer to the Lubbock area and have not been working long enough to receive FMLA. Our parents mean the world to us and are so special to everyone they meet and are a part of their lives. They light up the room and always put others first, so now it’s our turn to help them. We appreciate any and all help to support them during this stressful point in our lives.
