hi, we're salem (they/them) and olivia (she/they) and we are currently trying to leave florida. as you all know, the environment in florida has become incredibly hostile and has been laying some of the groundwork for a lot of the bullshit that's now happening across the country. as an interracial, trans, disabled and lesbian couple, we've been living in fear of all newest laws being passed and the culture in florida. aside from the political state of florida, our apartment has been nearly uninhabitble for months as we have been dealing with mold, termites and an unresponsive landlord who does not take our concerns seriously. it's not safe for us to be here, physically and mentally, and it's not going to get better any time soon. the political environment as well as our personal environment has also taken a toll on our mental healths, specifically salem, who is currently trying to recover from autistic burnout and ptsd and struggles severely with ocd. this is why we're fundraising to move to los angeles (where salem has lived before) and get out when olivia's lease is up at the end of september. we need to go somewhere that has protections for transgender individuals, resources for disabled individuals and is overall more accepting to a couple like us. we're trying to raise $15,000 to do all of the listed: visit LA to get apartment hunting settled ($1000) ship half our stuff ($1000) drive across the country with our stuff that can't be shipped ($1100) put a down payment on an apartment ($2000) first three months rent to ensure we can secure jobs and keep our apartment ($6000) all new furniture and house necessities as we will have to pretty much throw out/give away almost our stuff ($3000) pay general bills, gas and other things that may come up in the moving process ($1000) we understand that this is a lot to ask. with salem being unemployed and unable to work at the moment, we want to ensure all of our bases are covered and that we are going to be okay making a big move such as this. we don't expect to be able to hit every goal, but any amount of a donation does seriously help. this move is somewhat sudden but is needed for us to live our best lives: we can't afford to risk our lives being in florida. please share this and boost this and if you are able to donate, thank you so much. if you are unable to give via LFEBridge or don't feel comfortable giving via LFEBridge (fees, safety concerns, etc) feel free to send via cashapp ($gothkidkin) or paypal ([email redacted]). again, thank you so much for even reading this. we love you all and appreciate y'all. <3
