Tom osborn c/o Christina Pierce Thanks for your rescue, Christina, AND NOW, AFTER MY BEING ROBBED IN A GROCERY STORE JULY 23 . . . To my Student Friends and other Friends, and my dear Family and extended Family,  Whoever in the world  steps in quicksand on purpose? — NOT Tom Osborn! When I arrived in Anderson, Indiana, with Siamese GrettaMae, it was Thanksgiving Day 2024.   Though I had no way to thoroughly check things out before I landed in Indianapolis, I was excited to be in a state where reportedly retirement dollars would go much further, leaving a person had additional discretionary income.   I was pleased that dear friends believed I was taking a step in the right direction and had funded my first-class flight -- with GrettaMae, sedated in my lap.  At the same time, I was about to experience the four seasons for the first time in decades -- starting with the coldest season.   In 6 weeks I was surprised when I come down with COVID-19, which I had successfully avoided for it's first 2 years in the US/California.  Thus far, I had picked up no hint that I had landed myself in financial quicksand. Friends helped me monitarily for the first few months. Then, as I began to pay for things myself, I noticed that the cost of my medical insurance rate was going up an additional $100 a month. Soon I had to drop HealthNet and rely solely on Medicare. Because there are so many poor families in Indiana, I found that the HIGHEST net income that would qualify me for assistance was about $1,200 a month. Therefore, I qualified for NOTHING: neither food stamps , nor rental assistance, nor medical aid. It was then that I first identified I was living in financial sinking sand. I experienced more than my share of medical bills, and I was regularly hit with co-pays that wiped me out on most months: There developed a major infection in my diabetic left foot which put me in the hospital on IV antibiotics for 4 days. While I was in the hospital a medical professional accidently broke the longest bone in my right foot.   I breathed a sigh of relief when a shift supervisor told me that my hospital bill was completely covered, financially. But shortly after, I got a bill from them for $1,500. I was clearly sinking. But ironically, I had been limiting my expenses by NOT having a car, NOT having a TV or Internet service in my apartment, and more . . ..  Still I could begin to see the "handwriting on the wall."  Three events really, really shook me and woke me up as to what I must do: ¹The week we had 4 days with tornado watches. I took terrified GrettaMae down to the the musty sub basement to the tornado shelter with me.  ²Then a drive-by shooting took place only a few blocks away on my street -- which could be heard in our apartments -- which were the sounds of men shooting guns at people trying to pump gas at the gas station. ³And then, my landlady, who likes me a lot, told me she had to start eviction papers on me within a week, because . . . I had been sinking little-by-little in financial quicksand, and it showed up the most in my monthly rent.  Doctors won't see you if you arent up-to-date on co-pays. One week I had $400 of medical that had to be paid ahead of appointments, which had not taken place yet. I tried a few more agencies my landlady recommended to me, with no success.  So there was still no rent assistance, no medical assistance, and no food assistance.   In addition, after I moved to downtown Anderson, my bank discovered a handfull of criminals who put thousands of dollars of fraudulent charges to my checking account. The bank ended up changing my debit card at least 6 times. So . . .  THE TIME HAS COME to reach out, PAINFULLY, to ask for your strong arm to help me get out of this financial quicksand and return to my home of 30 years, Sacramento, CA before my shoulders disappear, so-to-speak and I'm sucked down under the mud. That a mess I'm in.  I need to quickly settle the most important financial obligations I have here in Indiana, (especially rent) ~  ....................[ESTIMATE IS $2,700] I need to ¹pack and ²ship as few things as possible back to Sacramento, then GrettaMae and I need to ³go onboard to first class seats (for her sake and for airline requirements) and head back to northern California ~  ....................[ESTIMATE IS $3,000] California, a welfare state which has given me thousands of dollars a year because my net retirement income is only $1,800 to $1,900 a month. $2,700 - for Indiana unsettled expenses $3,000 - for getting belongings and 2 souls           back to California.  __________________ $5,700 TOTAL AMOUNT TO BE RAISED, VERY SOON!  PLEASE. Let's start BIG and STRONG and FAST.   Thank you for looking at this LFEBridge.  I appreciate you.  Sincerely, hopefully, and prayerfully,  Tom Osborn  _______________ My current media production for Madison Academy students is on "pause," until I am back in Sacramento again..
