Hi! My name is Toast Wong. You may know me from the Toronto punk scene or community organizing. I play in a band called Boxcutter, and on our way to a show in Kingston, our engine suffered a catastrophic failure. We only made it home through the sheer goodwill of our friends, but now I am facing a $5000-6000 quote from my mechanic to replace the entire engine. Boxcutter is a band of all trans/non-binary racialized people. We do not really make a profit off DIY (because who would) but spend hundreds of hours trying to make art and supporting our local scene. I also need this car for community organizing and mutual aid. From moving PAs and tents to care packages for seniors in Parkdale, we've always intended for this car to be a community resource. Any money over the repair cost will be donated to Canada-Philippines Solidarity Organization, Migrants Resource Centre Canada or Anakbayan Toronto/Scarborough.
