My name is Brittany and I’m fundraising for my family. My husband Don and I live in Madison, OH with our 3 children. Don works as a custodian for a local school and I stay home with the children. Due to a combination of factors, wanting to raise my own kids, not being able to afford childcare, and having several debilitating mental and physical health concerns to juggle between myself and our children, my staying home has made the most sense and worked out for us. Our family had two vehicles, a sedan and a minivan, up until recently when the fuel pump on the minivan needed replaced and the price to fix it was more than the car was worth. The vehicle was sold for scrap. Being down to one vehicle has been immensely difficult. We have repeat difficulties juggling Don’s work schedule with everyone’s appointments. We often have to see doctors and specialists that are an hour or more from our home. we often have to have room in a vehicle for 5 people plus a wheelchair. There is no vehicle at home while Don is at work if we have an emergency. If we have a break down with our current vehicle, a likely occurrence as the car is getting up there in years, we have a difficult time arranging for repairs. For example we currently have 2 flat tires and need to use school supply funds for repairs. I know that having a second vehicle is a privilege that most do not enjoy, but in our situation it would provide such an easement of burden. Any funds donated over what we need for a vehicle will be used for needed repairs to our roof, replacing fencing, easement of medical and grocery bills, etc. thank you for your generosity ETA as of Oct 31st we are no longer eligible to receive food stamps by federal income guidelines and therefore are no longer receiving around $550 for groceries per month.
