Greetings Everyone! My name is Zachary Benjamin and I have set up this fundraising account to help a vulnerable friend of mine with autism who got scammed for a huge amount of money back a few months ago -- I will be informing them at a certain point along the way depending how well we can do to hopefully rebuild their huge loss. This will mean a lot to them that I went to this trouble to rescue them from their disastrous situation and help get them their money back, or at least as much of it as possible. We must raise awareness of times when those among the vulnerable populations are taken advantage of such as the neurodivergent community -- this is a very important matter. Our world, as we know, can be a pretty cruel place at times and with life being too short I want to take the time to add to this world what we need more of from the roots of a truly good heart. Out of respect for my friend's confidentiality and wishes, I am leaving the friend's name anonymous, because this friend of mine is way too embarrassed at the situation to let it become public knowledge that they got scammed and how it happened, which is why they don't want to do something like this for themselves. But to emphasize, they are socially vulnerable with Autism which adds to the magnitude of such a detriment; exploited and conned out of life savings. Long story short, I can say without specifying who, that this friend of mine was tricked by someone who they started talking to via Online Dating. During their progressing dialogue, they eventually at some point got into a conversation about finance and investments, leading to the scammer providing them with a fraudulent link for what looked like a legitimate investment service (but it wasn't, it was fake!). As a result of this, my friend ended up losing $30,000 (yes $30K! That's 30 Grand down the drain), after they had spent about 5 years trying to get some compensation from WorkSafe BC for an injury, which finally came through only to have virtually all of it get stolen. This is TERRIBLE! If anybody is willing to pitch in anything at all, that would be greatly appreciated so that my friend can recover as much of the money as possible -- the extra element of disgust was that they were someone with a disability affecting social judgment and it repulses me when people prey upon the setbacks of others like this. To put all this in perspective, for example, if 600 people each just put in $50, that would do the trick, or if 1000 people each put in only $30 that would also do it. No one individual should feel they have to cover a large portion of this: for that matter, in light of everyone else's needs, I'd prefer small amounts among many people than large burdensome amounts among few people, though anybody who decides to be generous here is an absolute saint. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help out -- let's see what we can do to help my dear friend get back what is much deserved. The mission starts now! Praying we can make it happen. Thanks for your support in helping to accomplish this.
