Hi, my name is Jennie Hearn, and our dear family friends, the Thompsons, have been fighting a cancer diagnosis since May of 2024. As of July of 2024, Jeremy Thomspon is now considered terminal and was given about 12 months to live. The Thompson family urgently needs support. To continue to keep up with the bills while also managing Jeremy’s ongoing medical expenses, we hope that you will consider donating or sharing this fundraiser as Jeremy is no longer able to work to support his family of four(wife Liz and two children Chloe 18 & Caleb 9). Liz has been a stay-at-home mom out of necessity as their 9-year-old son Caleb is autistic. Caleb is a brilliant kiddo and requires constant supervision, making even work-from-home jobs difficult and unsafe. Luckily, Caleb has been accepted into a wonderful school that is a safe place for him to learn and grow. Unfortunately, school does not begin until the end of August, when Liz will be able to find a job. In the meantime, bills are piling up with no income to support them. Chloe will be an incoming freshman in college this fall, and we are very proud of her hard work to further her education. Typically, Chloe would assist in caring for Caleb. However, she will be moving several hours from home as she embarks on pursuing her education and career path. She has been an excellent help to her whole family as they have been navigating this relentless cancer journey. Jeremy’s Journey Jeremy Thompson's cancer diagnosis came as a shock to the family-he was only 37 years old. Since his diagnosis, for nearly 2.5 years, he has had to undergo many serious medical procedures. Jeremy had his first surgery on May 20th of 2024 (removal of part of his face, part of his left ear, his parotid gland, and 72 lymph nodes), followed by radiation. He was out of work completely for 3 weeks. Then he had to modify his work schedule to accommodate the 5 days a week for 6 weeks of radiation. The Thompsons paid out-of-pocket $15,959.80 that year. The cancer unfortunately came back in May of 2024. They started him on immunotherapy without any success. The cancer tripled in size during immunotherapy. Jeremy had his third surgery (removing his old flap, his entire left ear, the parotid nerve, and part of the brain lining, as well as material from his 2nd leg to create a new flap covering where his ear was). Jeremy was out of work for a month. They paid $8,814.23 out of pocket that year and still owe $2,732.70. On Monday, February 13th of 2024, he had an episode where he lost time and became extremely agitated, so he was rushed to the emergency room. Jeremy was there from 3/13/23 to 3/16/23 where the doctors administered every test known to man. Even with all of this testing, they couldn't determine whether the cancer was back or if what they were seeing was a byproduct of the surgery in October. On the Monday after Easter, 4/10/23, Jeremy suffered a seizure at work and was once again rushed to the emergency room. He was in the hospital until 4/20, where they did even more extensive testing as well as a biopsy. He wasn't released to return to work until 5/8/23 and was given instructions that he could not drive for three months due to the seizure. He had a coworker who picked him up, but work had been extremely slow anyway. The biopsy showed that the tumor was cancerous and the surrounding tissue was a lesion. The finding of the lesion helped show the doctors that the cancer is ongoing and spreading throughout the left side of his brain. Which brings us to today. Jeremy is no longer able to work, and now the family is in a dire situation. My hope is that we raise $15,000 to help them cover the costs of medical bills, utilities, rent, food, and all the medical supplies Jeremy needs on a daily basis. I hope that we are able to help Jeremy’s last 12 months be as stress-free as possible so he and his family can make the best of their last memories together.
