The City of Pana has designated 38.5 acres, located south of Lake Pana, as a nature park. The Pana Disc Golf Club is developing a portion of the new park into one of the highest rated championship disc golf courses in America. The course design includes 42 baskets with double tee pads allowing for 84 different holes, facilitating all levels of play. This one-of-a-kind championship course measures over 11,000 feet in length, making it one of the largest wooded courses in the country. PDGA sponsored tournaments and other events at this unique championship course are sure to bring hundreds, if not thousands, of disc golf enthusiasts to Pana each year. The new park design also includes almost 2 miles of moderately rated, public use, hiking trails that wind through this amazing landscape. The PDGC has partnered with Skydrop Energy, Pathfinder Disc Golf, Under-Dog Sports, Pana Animal Hospital, Pana Community Hospital, 217 Coffee, First National Bank of Pana, Pana Bait, Slack Glass, Automotive Equipment Sales, Christer Foods, Pana Elks Club, Pana Lions Club, Pizza Man of Pana, Taylorville Community Credit Union, Land of Lincoln Credit Union, Delta Theta Sorority, Edward Jones of Pana, Pana Lake Association, Shelby Electric, Ameren, Coleman Tree Service, Pana American Legion, Mike Walsh, Terry & Georgeann Henschen, James & Janet Hicks, Scotty & Eileen Riddle, Ron & Cheryl Sweeny, Steve & Sharon Bean, John & Jackie Metzger, Sam Kempland, Debra Gonzales, Emily Prince, Jim Sparks, Audra Harris, Ivan Wright, Ericka Zoll, Rod Horve, Gary Henigman, and other community members to secure over $35,000 in donations for the new park so far. With these donations, we have completed the design of the championship disc golf course, installed the championship course baskets, and started construction of the nature trail. Now the Pana Disc Golf Club is asking our Pana area service clubs, business community, and other private donors to help us raise the additional $15,000 to complete the project. These funds will be used for the purchase of additional disc golf baskets, park benches, signage, and other project construction materials.
