The intention of this campaign is to acquire one of two adjoined properties in south Columbus Ga through the Landbank Authority of Columbus Georgia to start a paradigm shift in the way we approach the food and income insecurities of our youth and ourselves in our community, as well as provide better types of choices our youth have to choose from . Green Palm Gang is seeking your help to secure the necessary funds for the Green Palm Gang Home farm to start our self-sustaining programmatic future. Surviving the trauma of The Textile Mills industry crashes and racist policies, our neighborhoods and our people haven't had time to recuperate. In south Columbus every day we experience the effects of the mill failures and centuries of systemic discrimination in our neighborhoods. The southside of Columbus carries the weight of economic injustice, housing segregation and wealth inequality. Green Palm Gang is committed to giving at-risk Black youth the time to recuperate and readjust, to experience economic relief, and access new careers. Green Palm Gang is the back bone of The Home Farming Project, a like minded collective, developing self-sustaining social enterprises and worker cooperatives as solutions to our communities food and income insecurities. Green Palm Gang is an agribusiness training program for at-risk Black youth in the southside of Columbus Georgia. While in the program, they will learn things like; How to build and run businesses; they participate in an empowering curriculum of personal, professional, and skill development. The course load includes Market Gardening, Agriscaping, Egg Grading, Bee keeping, Environmental Responsibility, , Financial Literacy, Business Development, Political Education, Health and Nutritional Cooking, tai chi/ yoga and on the farm work experience. Every week will be packed full of knowledge, applied practice and a paycheck. Green Palm Gang is committed to building a sustainable organization model. Doing so by funding the majority of the programs through teaching Market gardening and Agri-scaping, Egg grading and sales etc. To help acquirer the Green Palm Gang Home farm and get our training programs started, we are dependent on community support. By giving to Green Palm Gang, you will provide us with the ability to secure 4 to 6 cohorts, maintain transportation, fees for educators and class materials, trainee uniforms and tools and begin to secure our own facilities the Green Palm Gang Home Farm. Our Vision: Getting our at-risk youth to see their connection to our community's and their importance in it. To recruit our most vulnerable population, in helping keep our yards and homes full of delicious home grown food, our markets and businesses, beaming with locally-grown produce, and our communities healthy and financially happy. Working together with our youth to actively regenerate our ecological, economic, and social landscapes, in essence providing both seed and soil.
