Hi. I'm Joanie, Paula's Mom. Paula is one of the most tenacious, strong and resourceful people I know. If you know her, you know she has overcome some challenges and continues to be a giving, faithful, determined and perseverant woman. Unfortunately, a series of major events have impacted Paula in a short time and she, the one who always wants to help others however she can, needs support - more than I or her amazing significant other can help with. For those who are unaware, below are the events that have taken place in a short time: May/June - Paula was out of work on approved medical leave. After the paid leave was approved, the short-term disability company changed their minds and is denying the previously approved leave, resulting in a demand for repayment. May/June medical issues and bills -- During her leave, Paula incurred medical bills that she expected to be able to pay with her flex spending account and job salary. She also learned she will require a surgical procedure in the coming months. June 28 - Days before she was to return to work her employer eliminated her position July 21 - Still awaiting unemployment approval, a storm in the area resulted in a lightning strike that caused significant damage to Paula's yard and home. She needs to come up with funds for the homeowners deductible and has to pay her policy renewal. August 1 - Paula was notified that the small freelance job she picked up to bring in some money while she awaited unemployment has resulted in further delays in receiving her unemployment funds. Paula is proud but needs help. She has exhausted all local and state resources, with food stamps and unemployment stalled/delayed. Specifically, any funds raised will go directly to Paula to pay: her auto and homeowner's insurance ($2300) due THIS MONTH, August car payment or two ($900 for two months) Pay for the homeowner's deductible of $2,800 for repairs Offset the $5,000+ medical bills Paula has to pay Help with her out-of-pocket expenses for storm clean-up/house repairs September mortgage - Paula has been able to put together enough to meet her August mortgage payment, but come September will likely be in trouble. I hate to ask for help like this, and I know Paula isn't happy that it has to be done, but there comes a time when a person can't "go it alone." This is one of the times that Paula can't manifest her needs quickly enough. I realize there are many organizations and people to whom you can donate, but if you know Paula, you know she deserves a break and we can help give her one. Thank you in advance for any donation amount.
