Dear friends, family, fellow boaters, and compassionate individuals, We are reaching out to you today to support a beloved member of our family, Eddie (Pap), who has recently faced a devasting incident. Eddie has been an active boater at Summersville Lake for nearly half a century. He created countless memories, forged strong bonds with those around him, and lent a helping hand to anyone in need. Unfortunately, during a recent windstorm, his beloved houseboat was lost in the chaos. On Friday, July 28, which also marks Ed's 74th birthday, disaster struck. The powerful and unforgiving windstorm caused his houseboat to capsize, leaving it irreparably damaged. Thankfully - Eddie, Marissa (granddaughter), Kyle (significant other), and their baby boy, Rowan (great-grandchild), managed to escape with minimal injuries. They all escaped the houseboat through a narrow window on the boat. Once escaped, fellow boaters responded and worked together to get them to land, and to the hospital. Marissa and Kyle suffered the most with cuts and bruises. Rowan (3-month-old child) miraculously came out without a scratch. However, the loss of the cherished vessel has greatly impacted him both emotionally and financially. We are now rallying together to show our support and help our grandfather, Eddie, get back on his feet. As a retired individual, the cost associated with the cleanup and the purchase of a new boat is significantly challenging for him. This is where your assistance can make a world of difference in his life. Ed's unwavering love for boating has made him a beloved member of the Summersville Lake Marina. He has formed deep connections and earned the respect and admiration of everyone who knows him. Many refer to him as "Captain Ed" or "Mayor of D Dock". It is our turn to show him the same love and support in his time of need. This LFEBridge campaign aims to raise funds for three primary purposes: Covering medical assistance for injuries Covering the expense of cleaning up debris left by accident Assisting Ed in purchasing a new boat so he can continue enjoying the hobby he cherishes so deeply.
