On July 6th an early morning fire at the Boyda farm caused Kathy and Kelly Boyda’s home of 25 years to burn to the ground. Luckily the family got out safe, along with their two dogs. As the farm is located on Grand Oro road in Twin Lakes, there was no local fire brigade to assist with extinguishing the fire. This has left the family nothing salvaged from the fire and having to start from scratch. In October 2024 Kelly Boyda was in an accident while gathering firewood, which left him unable to work for 6+ months. This accident has unfortunately absorbed the family’s emergency funds making it a challenge to rebound back from the fire. The family does have house insurance, which will assist with replacing the structure of the home that was lost and a portion of the home’s content. However, only a fraction of the home’s contents will be replaced with money from insurance and that money will take time until the family receives it. They will be displaced for a number of months up to a year plus and have suffered such a huge loss. Any amount that people are able to give to help the Boyda family rebuild and re-start their homestead is greatly appreciated. Also, if you would like to donate privately please message Brennan Boyda (Kathy and Kelly’s son) at grizzlymountainsports at gmail dot com to arrange this and ensure all donations go directly to the family. Please consider sharing this link to further try to assist them in any way possible.
