Since April 15th, a devastating war has been waging in Sudan's capital, Khartoum, along with other parts of the country. Over 2.1 million people have now been displaced in Sudan so far, according to the United Nations Migration Agency (IOM). The people of Sudan who have been leading peaceful demonstrations for democracy over the past years, are now the ones who are paying the heavy price of this war over power between these two generals. We (Diasporic Sudanese women and allies) would like to be able to help a list of 5 high risk Sudanese women that play an important role on the human rights front. This war has been a devastating attack on the democratic structure of the country; we hope to be able to support some of the pillars of the Sudanese humans’ rights defenders who are at higher risk, given their high visibility. Most of those individuals escaped the war with little financial support, some lost their jobs, and couldn't access their bank accounts due to the collapse of the financial system. The needs are immense, some can’t access food, medical support, and rent being inside Sudan or outside. This is one of the most urgent matters we are tackling, we URGENTLY need 5,000$ US, $1,000 each to provide temporary urgent support for food, water, housing, transportation out of Khartoum & medical expenses for those women. Please support us in this fundraiser by donating if you can and sharing.
