I am reaching out to you today to share the story of my incredible sister, Emily Nordstrom. She has always been the sweetest and most creative person I know, but recently her life has taken a devastating turn. Emily began experiencing neurological symptoms that have had a profound impact on her daily life. These symptoms include vision problems, speech difficulties, hearing impairment, muscle weakness, numbness, and excruciating nerve pain, some of which she continues to battle even now. These past few months have been incredibly challenging for our family. Although it would be easier to keep this struggle confined to a select few, we have decided to reach out to you, our extended family and friends, in the hopes of receiving your love and support. Emily's journey to a diagnosis has been arduous, involving two emergency room visits, 32 doctor appointments, 36 blood tests, one spinal tap, 4 MRIs, 2 CT scans, consultations with three different neurologists, and the looming threat of potentially life-threatening conditions. Finally, after much uncertainty, she has been diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis (MS), a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the central nervous system. On April 28th, Emily's symptoms reached such a critical point that she had to be rushed to the emergency room in an ambulance. She was admitted for two days of extensive testing, which confirmed the severity of her condition. Since then, Emily has been unable to work, leaving her facing financial burdens that have only added to the already immense emotional and physical challenges she endures daily.
