My name is Amber Arnold and I am a Black community organizer, farmer, and executive director in Vermont. I am creating this gofund me to support my friend and community member Rachel Wilson. She is an incredible Black and Abenaki mother and community organizer in Hardwick Vermont. She has been living somewhere temporarily in preparation to move to a new apartment for her and her children and had all of her and her children's belongings stored in a storage unit that made her sign a waiver saying they are not liable for any damages and thus she has lost almost all of her belongings due to water damage and sewage contamination. Rachel is also an incredible local artist who has spent years creating beautiful peices of work centering people of the african diaspora and leading workshops with youth centering their ancestral legacies, and alot of her artwork scans, that she had invested hundreds of dollars in creating have also been destroyed by the flooding. This money will support Rachel in replacing the items that were lost in this flood which include many items she needs to care for her and her family including furniture for her and her childrens rooms and all of their items as they look to transition into a place a new place of safety. This funding will also hopefully help her secure a downpayment for a new apartment so her and her children have a safe place to live. Rachel lost a lot but she and her family are safe, and she is not unhoused. Her children are living with their dad, and she is also living with them temporarily until she can find a place in Montpelier for herself and her kids that will be safely above the flood line. It is deeply important when we experince distaers as a result of climate destruction that we care for and protect our Black and Indigenous women and children, please help me and support my dear friend and community member Rachel heal from this traumatic situation and find the safety and nourishment she needs to continue working towards thriving in Vermont
