Hello My name is Melissa and I never thought I would be typing this asking for help. But here we are..... On June 30th my 35 year old husband (fiance) Don, was sent to the E.R. by his doctor because his creatinine (kidney) levels were 8.3 and should be around 1.5. His potassium levels were extremely high too. The levels were so high he could have went into cardiac arrest. After a 5day 6 night stay in the hospital, Don is leaving with stage 5 kidney disease, a perm cath installed in his chest, 3 treatments of dialysis already done and a hell of a road a head of us. He will be on 3day a week dialysis and will not be able to return to work for at least a month or 2. 5 years ago he walked into mine and my kids life and took on the role of father like he has been there all along. He has been our rock and my best friend. He is the best thing that has happened to me and the kids and its so hard to see him go thur this at 35. He is a worker, a provider and is the main source of income for our family. Hes is having a hard time knowing he can't work for a month or so. He wants nothing more than to get back in his semi. He is worried about not being able to pay the bills while he is out of work. This is 1 less worry I would like to give him. We are still trying to take this all in and we still have a lot of unknowns. But the bills, groceries and life just don't stop. Not even sure what outta pocket hospital expenses we will have yet either. Already got me for co-pays on scripts while still here. If you can spare a few bucks to take this worry off Don for a month or 2 that would be awesome. We definitely can't get behind on things and stage 5 kidney disease is not going anywhere. Hopefully that after this month or so he can be a candidate to do at home dialysis. They won't discuss that till after this month or two. If you can help, Thank You If you can share it, Thank You If you can send prayers, Thank You
