Update: we raised enough to get Rith a new tuktuk and motorbike with a bit to spare for repairs! Thank you so much to everyone that helped out! Rith's tuktuk was stolen last night. Rith was my tuktuk driver for the five years I lived in Phnom Penh. He is the friendliest, most helpful guy you'd ever meet. When I moved to PP he helped me get set up, knowing exactly where to find things I needed. The lack of tourists in Cambodia right now is a big worry. Rith was already finding it challenging to earn money and now, without a tuktuk, Rith now has no job. Recently he and his wife took over care for their two young grandkids (3&4 years old) and his wife had to stop working to look after them. Rith also has some health problems which requires daily medication, another expense. For anyone who has been to Cambodia or travelled in South East Asia, you know many people here live on very little. Without a tuktuk, Rith's family could find themselves in complete poverty. We are hoping our international community can come together to help buy Rith a new tuktuk. We know money is tight for everyone right now but if you feel you can spare even just a few dollars, it can make a huge difference to Rith's family.
