The ease and speed with which criminals can maneuver through Maxwell Park streets is alarming. They operate with minimal consequences, if any. Even law-abiding citizens seem to disregard the safety of our neighborhood by speeding and ignoring stop signs, treating both our streets as open stretches of highway. As a result, many community members report that they no longer feel safe outside their homes. There are fewer people outside walking and socializing. For years, the community has fought for change, but the toll of navigating complex city systems has left them exhausted and disheartened. The Maxwell Park community deserves better. Our neighbor Dave deserved better. It is through his death that the we are rallying together to improve our beloved neighborhood. The money raised here will be used to fund community led traffic calming measures.
