We regret to share with you the heart-wrenching story of our dear colleague and friend, Alyssa Johnson and her family of West Hants, Nova Scotia. On July 22, 2024, Alyssa and her family’s world was suddenly turned upside down when Central Nova Scotia was hit with severe flash-flooding that swept through their home. Alyssa, her husband, and their three school-aged children spent several horrifying hours trapped inside their home until they were finally rescued by boat the next day. Alyssa and her family lost absolutely everything to the flood – their clothes, personal belongings, furniture, appliances, and home. All of their cherished memories and keepsakes have been washed away or destroyed. To compound the family's distress, they received a crushing blow when they learned their insurance policy would not provide any coverage whatsoever. After 13 years of flood coverage, they were surprised to learn it was discontinued one year ago. Without insurance coverage, Alyssa and her family are truly left with nothing. As Alyssa and her family attempt to piece their lives back together, we invite you to make a donation to help them secure shelter, supplies, and to start the process of replacing and rebuilding their lives from the ground up. Your donation, no matter how big or small, can lay the foundation for a brighter future despite the darkness they are currently facing. Alyssa Johnson has always been the heart of our community and a dedicated mother, co-worker, and friend. Let’s show her and her family that love and generosity can conquer any disaster. With gratitude!
