Earlier this summer, the Bearden Community of Knoxville successfully challenged having a drive-thru restaurant built at 5716 Kingston Pike in front of Bearden Elementary School and Knoxville Adaptive Education Center. The community response in support of our efforts was nothing short of inspiring! On June 27, 2024, the Knoxville City Council overturned the Planning Commission's earlier approval of the drive-thru. However, the saga isn't over and the corporation wanting to build on this site has filed an appeal to overturn the City Council's decision. We want the Bearden Community to join together once again to prevent this development. Community organizers in Bearden hired an attorney to help us in this legal battle and the initial retainer is $5,000. We are asking every concerned community member to make a donation to help pay for this cost. Join us in Protecting Bearden Village!
