I'm reaching out on behalf of my mom. My Mom and I are in a toxic environment and we're about to be homeless. For the sake of privacy I'm going to label them Roomate A and Roomate B. About 2 months ago our roommates told us they weren't going to resign the lease. This was fine. My Mom had decided we were going to leave a month early because we had found an affordable place and they weren't going to hold it. My mom disclosed this information to roommate A and he was livid. He created a scene at my moms work place and said we were still going to have to pay him rent and the electric (The electric is in my name), even though we weren't going to be living here. Because we said this, roomate A wouldn't resign the paper saying we were paying him rent, even though we still are. Due to this we lost all our benefits including our health insurance. My mom just had a peice of her colon removed and now she can't even follow up with her surgeon. Or even afford her diabetic medication. I can't even refill my antidepressants or continue therapy. Roomate A will frequently invite one of my siblings and her boyfriend over. They will go up to his room and proceed to gossip about my mom and I. I've heard them make fun of my mental disorder, insult my appearance, shame me for my income, degrade my artwork, etc. They'll call my mom tons of hurtful words, the B word, a whore, stupid, and more. I have told my sister personal things that have happened to me, things that I can barely discuss with my therapist and she aired them out. Now when my mom and roomate A get in arguments he'll throw them up to hurt us. I honestly don't know what my mom and I did to garner this type of behavior. These comments are really taking a toll on our mental health. Right before my mom had surgery Roommate B pepper sprayed her... a 57 year old diabetic woman at her work place. My mom is borderline cataracts and this really messed up her right eye. She hasn't been able to see the same since and it causes her pain daily. We can't even pay back her medical bills or get her an eye exam. My mom wouldn't even press charges because she doesn't want to hurt anyone. They've tried to kill my three cats. My cats have been coughing and wheezing for a few months. I took them to the vet and was informed that the cigarette smoke was causing them physical harm. I had told my roommates this and asked them to smoke outside or open a window. They did not approve of my request and it caused them to retaliate. I had woken up to broken glass in their food and cigarette butts in their water the following day. Now I have to keep their bowls in my bedroom because I'm afraid of what they might do. This has all put extreme stress on my mom and I. We never know what's going to happen next and we live in fear. This is so stressful that my mom collapsed at work due to chest pain. She was in the hospital for 3 days and is now on heart attack risk. Unfortunately due to my mom being in and out the hospital we were unable to save any funds. Now we're on the verge of being homeless. We can't afford a security deposit, 1st months rent, a uhaul, my moms medical bills, medications, we can't even afford food at this time. We couldn't even get the place we applied for and the lease ends August 31st. Please consider helping us. I'm asking for your support and generosity. I know there's stigma around asking for financial aid but I don't know what else to do. I'm scared if we keep living like this I'm not going to have a mom anymore.
