Hi, my name is Judie and I was asked to start a Go-Fund-Me page to help bring financial support to a widowed 80 yr old neighbor Pattie Smith who lost her home and belongings to a fire in June. Please do not confuse Pattie's fire with that of another neighbor who had a fire approx 1 week earlier. Patty is a retired patient care tech. Her late husband was a 20 year Coast Guard veteran. She lives in a 55+ Manufactured Home Community and while sleeping, her master bath caught on fire and quickly spread. She has NO Insurance and lost everything! All clothes belongings, photos and to add insult to injury she had to sign away her 2 furbaby cats to the Treasure Coast Humaine Society. They are now up for adoption.. Her next-door neighbors (a husband and wife) are being kind enough to share their home with Pattie. The Martin County Fire Marshal is concerned about volunteers who wanted to help clean up the debris from her burned out house. He stated that it is not a job for amateurs. And that there are many dangers in that job, including: unstable floor, unstable structure, nails, broken glass. It should only be done by a professional contractor or home demolition company which she can't afford. He also said that some manufactured home companies do this kind of work but she doesn't have the financial means to remove or even replace her totally uninhabitable home. She cannot enter to get anything especially clothes. She didn't even have her shoes on when she ran out. She lives month-to-month on her Social Security. She still has to pay her monthly rent on that burned out house and can't afford to rent or even purchase an additional home because she still needs to pay her lot rent. She is devastated, traumatized and in dire straights. She is also oxygen dependent and it is amazing that the numerous oxygen tanks did not explode. The Fire Department just threw the tanks out the window. PLEASE support and share this go-fund me page and give what you can to help Pattie.
