Hi, my name is Gracie LeDoux, but more importantly, this fundraiser is for my 7month old German Shepherd named Alex. Yesterday around 4 pm (7/27/23) Alex was hit by a vehicle. I rushed her to the nearest vet (an hour and a half away.) upon arrival Alex was given sedatives and pain medication. She was stabilized and the vet was able to take X-rays. The Imaging showed that her pelvis is broken on both sides of a joint where her sacrum and pelvis are attached. Alex is going to have to have surgery by a specialist to be able to use her back end again. Alex was stabilized and brought home under veterinary recommendation. The surgery has a very high success rate but it will be a long recovery. I may have to drive her to Denver, CO over six hours away from our home in Mora, NM depending on availability for this procedure. The world has a way of giving us hardships during our most vulnerable times. I am currently a full-time student for my Bachelor's in Nursing. I work as much as I can but it simply won't cut it for the treatment Alex needs right now. I am committed to doing whatever it will take to get Alex the care she needs. Alex is a happy and lively puppy that brings joy to my home. She is so important to me and my family. I wish I could take her injuries and make them mine. She is in a tremendous amount of pain but still wags her tail every time she sees us. Alex is a compassionate being and I want nothing more than to have her jump into my lap and try to steal my snacks again. Every dollar makes a difference and so does every share this fundraiser can get. Thank you all for anything that you can do, whether it's donating a few dollars or sharing her story, we will be forever grateful. I will update on Alex's condition if it changes and continue to update on where we are in the recovery process. Thank you, Gracie Allee LeDoux Alex’s diagnosis was made at Smith Veterinary Hospital in Santa Fe, NM by DVM Quigily. I will be obtaining her updated X-rays on Monday, I’ll post them up here. As any pet owner knows normal bodily functions are a thing to celebrate when your critter is hurt. So YAY it does not seem like she has injuries to her gi track or urinary system. Other than that she has been watching YouTube videos of other dogs. This seems to keep her content to lie still. Thank you everyone for all the kind words and donations ❤️ Alex has surgery scheduled for Tuesday, please if you can donate we will be forever grateful, every dollar really does make a difference. 8-2-23 Good morning everyone, Alex has been seen by the surgeon at Thrive Pet Healthcare specialists in Albuquerque. She is definitely going to need surgery for a good outcome. I have put every penny I have towards Alex’s surgery. Thank you so much to all who have been donating and sharing her story. We appreciate every share and prayer. If you would like to donate you can contact Thrive Pet Healthcare Specialists in Albuquerque at [phone redacted] or via email at [email redacted] I will also attach Alex’s LFEBridge at the top of this post.
