There are 1,600 homeless elementary students living in the El Monte and Mountain View school districts. Many of these homeless youth are living out of their cars, or sharing tiny, garage-sized rooms with multiple other families -- forced into living conditions that are incredibly stressful. A study shows that if youth are comfortable and confident with reading by the age of 9, they will be more successful and stable in the future. We have a wonderful opportunity to help our youth NOW, potentially making a huge impact in their futures! The "El Monte Promise Now Foundations, A Project of Community Partners" asked me, Jeremy Wong from Troop 373, to make a difference and promote reading for the upcoming school year, by packing 1,600 string bags with books, doTERRA Essential Oil hygiene kits, blankets, socks, and a stuffed toy! With these materials, the children can feel a sense of comfort when they snuggle up with their blankets and read to their stuffed animals. The socks and hygiene kits will promote hygiene and health for the children. We are calling this “Operation Snuggle-Up & Read”. This is a special project that Jeremy Wong, a Boy Scout, and Delta Kappa Gamma are conducting together. Jeremy Wong will lead "Operation Snuggle-Up & Read" by organizing the manpower and supplies necessary to pack the 1,600 drawstring backpacks. We thank all of the generous donors who helped make this dream possible! Thank you for your donations of socks, books, drawstring bags, and hygiene kits! To finish buying supplies, WE NEED $5,918 BY THRE END OF AUGUST If only 80 people donate $100......or 20 people donate $400... we would reach our goal!!! Any overflow will be directed to the Promise Now organization. These funds will push the project to gather the last of the materials! Please! I NEED YOUR HELP TO RAISE $8,000!!
