I am writing this on behalf of my best friend of eighteen years, Jennifer Shelley. After months of countless doctor visits for chronic fatigue, she was recently diagnosed with a congenital heart abnormality and will have to undergo open heart surgery on July 17th. If you are lucky enough to know Jennifer, you know how kind and giving she’s always been to others. She is a single mother and sole provider to her four incredible children. She has limited extended family and her resources are slim. This surgery will put Jennifer out of work for two months, and that will absolutely take its toll on her beautiful family. Jennifer has been a hard working employee for the city of Portland for years and often works 50+ hours a week. She is selfless and would never ask for a dime, but she has come to the realization that in order to provide for her family, help is not only welcomed, but necessary. Please, even if you can spare $5, that will help keep her family afloat, while she recovers from a massive and invasive life saving surgery.
