If you’ve come to the farm, you’ve met our dog Pippa. We love Pippa and having a farm dog. On a farm, dogs are companions but also serve a purpose and help out with farm life. We always planned to get another dog as Pippa got older and this spring, an opportunity fell into our lap for a new puppy to join us at the farm. Friends of ours were breeding their wonderful dog and we knew a puppy from her litter would be a great fit for our family and the farm. Odin joined our family a few short weeks ago in the middle of July. Many people say puppies can be a lot of work but Odin was a good puppy and jumping into farm life well. He was helping with feeding the pigs, moving the cows, and welcoming anyone who came to visit the farm. We were all so excited to welcome him to life on the farm. In an unfortunate situation, Odin became (according to the vets) a ROBO dog (run over by owner). He was sleeping under the wheel of our putt-putt (UTV) and as the engine started and the wheels begin to turn, a yelp came out and it was clear Odin was very hurt but still alive. We were not sure how bad things were or if he was going to make it. After brining Odin to the vet, it was determined that he sustained injury to his back leg and once undergoing surgery he would be able to resume normal life activities and would be able to resume full activity and continue living his normal life on the farm. It was a difficult decision to move forward with the surgery because of the cost. He is a young puppy with a full life ahead of him. He went through surgery, did well, and is expected to make a full recovery. If any friends and family are willing to donate to help offset the cost of the surgery we appreciate it! Love, Dan, Britta, and the rest of us here at the farm
