I am fundraising for my brother Nick. On August 3, he was critically injured in a car crash while riding on his motorcycle. He has many injuries and after being taken by life flight is in the trauma unit in Orlando undergoing many surgeries. Thus far, he has gone into cardiac arrest twice, severe abdominal trauma with contusions on his heart/lungs, removed his spleen, has a broken left arm that they reconstructed. They have been able to successfully give him a completely new vascular system in his leg and tomorrow will be doing surgery on the same leg to reconstruct the bones. He will be needing complete facial reconstruction - but - his brain function is there, thanks to his helmet. Prior to his accident, he worked hard at multiple jobs and lived a really simple life. If you know Nick, you know he has always been one of the most caring people with the biggest heart, despite all of the troubles he has endured throughout his 28 years. These days you could usually find him with his buddies on a jet ski or boat, or on an adventurous trip with our sister. I am confident that the teams working tirelessly on him at the hospital will do everything they can to get him back to that point, and we are so thankful for what they have done to keep him here with us so far. Unfortunately, he has a really long road ahead of him, but he is one of the strongest people we know. He has gone from living in his car by the river to owning his own home, purchasing a reliable truck, and adopting his dog Blu, who was the oldest and longest-staying dog in the shelter. He has made incredible strides in his life over the past few years. This LFEBridge will be used to help with his bills, first and foremost. His mortgage, truck payments, dog expenses (Blu is a senior dog with a very restrictive diet), and other household upkeep - water, electricity will all need to be paid. He did not have health insurance, so medical bills will be something we need to think about at some point. He has an incredible support system cheering him on, but we can use some help to make sure nothing falls behind. Traveling between RI/CT and FL is very costly for us all, but we will do everything in our power to make sure his things don't get behind. I am personally making sure that my farm meat sales go to making sure he is taken care of. www.radicalrootsct.com Please consider signing up for a meat share or bulk purchases or purchasing a gift certificate for later use.
