Ashley has a more DESPERATE need right now. It turns out she had only had liability insurance with no collision coverage or anything else on her car. She has never had a vehicle worth more than $1000 or $2000 so she has never needed collision. She wanted to pay the least amount of money bc she really has no income at this time. She was due to restart her job this month but because she no longer has transportation and still recovering from her injuries, she is more desperate than ever and I am trying to raise funds for her. PLEASE donate if you are able. Hi, my name is Julie DuBois and I am starting this GOFUND me page to help my niece, Ashley Alms, replace her totaled car and to help with medical expenses. 14 months ago, Ashley was pregnant with twin boys, homeless and living out of a wreck of a van. Her desire to find a safe place for her and her babies to live, led her to a trailer park in Tennesee just shy of the North Carolina border. It was not the ideal place to live, but her and her boys, Willie and Waylon (will be one year old July 11) thrived. In October 2024, my husband and I were able to secure a gently used 2013 Ford Escape SUV that was in excellent condition with only 30,000 miles on it. This car was perfect for her and her twin boys. Unfortunately, at 1130 evening Thursday,June 29th when Ashley was driving with her boys through a forest from the trailer in Tennessee to a new place in North Carolina to which she is moving into, a critter ran in front of her, causing her to swerve, one tire hit a rock and the car went flying and tumbling down an embankment, landing on its top in a stream. Ashley lost her phone in the accident so was not able to phone anyone and did not have a flash light. She sustained injuries, such a head trauma, right shoulder separation, various cuts, scratches and bruises. She was able to get herself out of the SUV, and used rocks to break windows to get her two boys out of the middle seat. One by one, with only one working arm, she was able to carry the boys (still in their car seats) up the embankment to the side of the road. For seven hours, Ashley and her two boys sat by the side of the road until 0630 am, when another vehicle came by and she was able to get the police and an ambulance to the scene. The purpose of this fund raiser is to raise enough money, that, she will be able to get another car that will accomondate her and Willie and Waylon. Also, I am trying to help her with uncovered medical expenses. Because of her separated right shoulder, Ashley will not be able to work for an undetermined period of time, but in the meantime, she needs a mode of transportation. Thank you very much for any financial assistance you can give for Ashley and her boys.
