Hello All. I am raising funds for my sister, Michele (Kristoff) Doucette and her boyfriend Jim Zaretskie, who suffered extreme damage to their home during the torrential rain of July 9th. Michele and Jim were home in Roxbury, NJ on Sunday evening when they heard strange, loud noises coming from their basement. When they went to inspect they could not believe what they were seeing - the foundation of their house was collapsing inward, allowing 4 feet of muddy water to come rushing into their finished basement. The damage was so severe that the town declared their house uninhabitable and they had no choice but to leave and go to a hotel that evening. In addition to the extensive structural damage to their home, both Michele and Jim lost furniture, appliances, clothing, sentimental family photos, and countless other personal items. We thank God that Michele and Jim are physically alright because we know things could have been worse if they were in the basement when the foundation gave way. Unfortunately, the financial impact of this catastrophic event is devastating for them because their homeowner's insurance policy excludes flood coverage and has denied to cover any of their losses. Also, their house is not located in a federally recognized disaster area, thus making them ineligible for any FEMA assistance whatsoever. At this time, the bills are starting to come in for restoration services, electrical work, engineers, etc. The quotes they are receiving for the cost to rebuild the foundation are quite distressing. This is why we are reaching out to anyone who can help. Through the generosity of friends, family and kind strangers, we can all make a difference and help Michele and Jim. Thank you to everyone who is able to donate, even if it is only a small amount. Any contribution is greatly appreciated. If you are not able to donate at this time, a share with your family and friends would mean the world to us as well!
