Hey, all. If you know me, you know I live my life on the road. Delivering medicine for my job, my car is pretty much everything to me. So you can imagine how much anxiety I'm going through over the last couple days ever since I walked out my door and found my car had been stolen. It was recovered, but was badly damaged. Many things were dumped/stolen from the car - some were recovered, but I lost a lot of my tools and a couple sentimental items. Before this, I had my route nights and rates cut for a few months, and a commercial contract didn't pay out when it should have, so I took out some loans to stay afloat. My routes are back, so I've been able to start building back, but then this happened. I've had to take two days off with no pay due to having no vehicle. I'm getting into a rental tomorrow, so I'll be back to earning, but truth be told I've been trying to dig myself out of a debt hole for a few months, from those loans and from a couple credit cards I used for gas. I have some loan payments that are going to come out Friday, and again on the pay period these days off affected. My rental coverage on my insurance is only $40/day, so I'm sure I'll be incurring expenses on that as well. I'm in a bind. The math is not good. I have an old Accord, but it needs repairs to be road ready. Aside from needing new tires, I need to get it in for an inspection because it's been sitting a while. It's not a safe option in lieu of the rental. Honestly, it probably should have been scrapped when I scrapped my HHR, but I was paranoid about having a backup - and now my backup isn't ready to be my backup :-/ Finally, since my stolen car WAS recovered, it's up in the air whether insurance will fix it or total it, as the mileage is high and apparently the Kia Ignition repair is very costly, per the tow driver. Even if they do repair, I've got a $500 deductible which is financially devastating right now. I don't expect them to total the car for more than a couple thousand, given the mileage. (I'll update this as I know more, but I wanted to get ahead of this) My goal is to have enough money to roll with whatever punches come my way over the next few weeks. I've investigated a few places to look into new(used) cars if I wind up getting totaled, but even with them, they're going to require hefty down payments which I'm unprepared for(and don't expect my kia to total to match). With my debt-credit ratio in the crapper, I don't qualify for much. Additionally, I'd like to get my feet under me and pay off the outstanding short-term loans I've taken out over the past few months. Not hemorrhaging money every check will help stabilize me. I hate asking for help. I prefer to be the guy helping. It's part of why I love my job of delivering medicine. Even outside of the charitable things I love doing, I get to be part of caring for others. I'm not ready to come off the road yet. I've done my damnedest these last few months trying to bounce back from a bad financial situation and repeated car repairs, and in time I would have been fine, but this hit at the worst possible time. Whatever you can do to help would be appreciated. Thank you so much for reading, and thank you in advance if you can help.
