As anyone who knows Lazara has discovered, she is one of the most positive, caring people you will ever meet. She is always willing to help anyone that needs anything, and with a smile and a kind word, usually a lot of kind words since we all know she loves to talk too. Lazara’s husband Oscar, was recently diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer. Oscar stays home to care for their special needs 20 year old daughter and his mother who has advanced Alzheimer's, while Lazara works full-time. Lazara has never had a driver’s license (she just got her permit a few weeks ago and is learning how to drive). Oscar would drive her to work every day and pick up her to take her home. Now she is getting a ride from a neighbor and taking UBER when necessary (at $40+ each way). Oscar has been in the hospital since early July in Miami where he has family. The doctors have determined that he isn't strong enough to receive treatment and he was transferred to hospice this weekend. We (her co-workers) are setting up this account to help Lazara and her daughter, Josie, with all the additional costs they are incurring now and will be incurring over the next few months for traveling back and forth to Miami, co-pay for medical bills, paying for rides to/from work, food, etc. If you would rather get her a gift card, Publix, Walmart or Uber would be the most helpful, but anything would be appreciated. Thank you and we will post updates as we get them.
