This is the house that Nick grew up in, and we are his neighbors. His father was a well-known biology professor at Clemson and Nick also attended Clemson. After he retired, Dr. Wourms was scammed out of his life savings and Nick and his mom struggled to keep things going after his death. Several years later, Nick’s mom passed away and Nick realized that his mom had taken out a reverse mortgage on the house. While Nick tried to gather up resources to purchase the house, it was not to be. His home was sold at auction and he has to evacuate ASAP. Nick discovered his dad had a valuable collection of science books and artifacts, but they cannot be liquidated in a timely manner, so Nick is currently struggling just to keep his head above water. He also co-owns some land in Maine that can be sold, but it will also take time especially since he is not the sole owner. He spent most of the last few years caring for his mom who also had dementia. In the spring he worked for H&R Block during the day and worked the night shift loading materials for Lowe’s in Anderson. Tax season ended, and he continues to work the job with Lowe’s. He has found a reasonable rental house in Townville to be the home for him and his 2 dogs, but he really needs our support until he can get back on his feet. So come on Clemson family, please consider donating to help Nick get by now until he can liquidate some of his land and/or books. No amount is too small!
