Let's fundraise in honor and memory of Jamie to create a "Make it So" impact for others. Beloved Jamie had a delightful master plan (and 2 yrs worth of savings) to realize big dreams, community connections and valued experiences. They didn't get to happen due to his unexpected death on January 28, 2024. His legacy reminds all those that knew him to see uniqueness in ourselves and others as a natural and beautiful part of our shared humanity. As a lifelong Trekkie, any task at hand was a "Make it So" focus with "Ad Astra per Aspera" making space for "the stars through difficulties." Jamie's remarkable ✨ life Celetis Excelsior Flight WHY A MEMORIAL FUND? Because of Jamie's generous heart, we feel compelled to give meaning and impact to the savings he accrued for his unmet plans and aspirations. After sharing the idea of donating his dormant estate funds towards helping others, people started asking how to contribute to a giving campaign. When Jamie got a $10 bill, he would exclaim, "Oh, my gosh, I'm filthy stinkin' rich!" He knew that small things make a big difference. We are comforted by knowing he would appreciate that we are paying forward his unfulfilled ambitions and can hear his common response "I am so honored". WHO WILL THIS IMPACT? Jamie's life was enhanced by resources. Through social belonging, social support networks and social capital. Your donation will enable significant ways for folks with disabilities to join the rich fabric of community through wish-granting and making eager dreams come true. The "Make it So" funds will be a combination of personal donations and his dormant savings. The total funds collected will then be divided up to specific individuals identified by the Ohio/Warren County Board of Developmental Disabilities (WCBDD) community based services. Once the go-fund me has completed a check of 100% of donations (minus fees of 2.9% + $0.30 of credit/debit charges) plus Jamie's accrued funds will be written to the WCBDD for the organization to distribute to excited people ready for their own "Make is So" plans. We hope to impact 25-30 people (or more!) Each person will get 100% access to the funds to discover and manifest gifts, interests, talents and contributions. There is no list needed of what this would look like. This isn't a "specialized" service, rather universal experiences of people finding and doing what they love. These resources can uplift and help increase joy, visibility, access, equity and inclusion for disabled persons. After years of first-hand experience with the WCBDD Services and Support services team, I trust them to partner with folks to center choices and co-design and celebrate community. The "Make it So" funds will directly recognize the importance of community connections. These opportunities and relationships are not just a luxury item but a necessity for everyone. The ultimate endgame is that out of opportunity people create belonging in community. People ultimately welcome people. Thank you for helping us remember Jamie's compassion for others, vivid imagination and great hope for humanity. Live Long and Prosper.
