Hi. My name is John. I've been living in Vermont for the past eight years. I've been a school teacher for the past ten years. I've struggled with housing since moving to Vermont. There are barely any places for rent there and the ones I could find were completely overpriced. In those eight years, I'd moved eight times. Everyone kept selling and each time I struggled to find a different place to live. The last place I was renting went very very wrong. The owner of the place rented to her nephew and his wife. They, in turn, rented the downstairs apartment to me. I lived there for a year and found the house was put up for sale. One morning there was a knock at the door and it was a police officer telling me that all of us had been evicted and had to leave immediately. I'd learned that, while I was paying my rent, the nephew wasn't paying his to his aunt. I was completely blindsided. I was given a half an hour to gather what I could and then leave the premises. The story is long and only got worse after that. With all the issues with the housing crisis for me in Vermont, I finally decided to take what money I had and move back to my home state of Pennsylvania. It was an extremely expensive move but I had enough to do it. I found an apartment near my hometown. Between the expense of U-haul, tow dolly for my car, the gas (it was a 15 hour trip), deposit and first month's rent, deposit to turn the electricity on, and many other unexpected etc. etc., I wiped out my funds. My car and storage payments are overdue, my next month's rent is coming up in a week, and once I start my new job at a school here it will be a few weeks until I get paid again. Friends have done what they can but they are struggling too. This is a long shot but if anyone can help at all, it would be such a blessing and I would certainly pay it forward, once I'm back on my feet. This whole thing has been such a nightmare for me. Thanks for reading. Best, John
