UPDATE! My sister is a homeowner!!! She bought a trailer that is in a local trailer park (it cannot be moved). She needs to replace the doors, steps, and flooring, and fix the electrical, as well as have money to buy oil, major appliances and furniture. Any further donations will go to helping her continue to get the trailer ready for move in! (Roof is in the process of being done and my brother is working on getting the water working, see update from 12-13) ********************************************************* Hi, I'm Amanda. My sister, Amalie DiBenedetti is a single mom of 4 kids, the youngest being only 2 years old. To say her life has been a struggle is an understatement. Sharing this with the world is difficult, but I just don't know what else I can do to help. Amalie's struggles started when we were young. Right after our Dad died of cancer, she began having unexplained "panic attacks", well those "panic attacks" turned into full blown seizures and she was diagnosed with a thalamic astrocytoma. The prognosis was grim, since radiation and chemo weren’t an option, but somehow, miraculously, the tumor stopped growing. She lives a fairly normal life with an inoperable brain tumor. She works at the local walk-in clinic and has been consistently trying to better her life. Her biggest wish was to be a mother. She has 4 kids, Aveyah (11), Kaidynce (9), Kendall (4), and Axten (2). She has lived in Rockland, in the same apartment for 10 years. It is the only home that the kids have ever known. Amalie was given notice that she had 2 months to move out of her apartment. Her apartment is going to be renovated and rented at top dollar to doctors and traveling nurses. It is just a matter of time before others in her complex have the same fate. There are no rentals around, especially ones that can be afforded by a single mother of 4. The wait for section 8 housing is years long. She and the kids will be homeless as of August 31st. Amalie was given an incredible opportunity to buy land with an old trailer on it for 60k. It is a great little spot and would be perfect for her and the kids, but nowhere will finance the property because of the trailer. She is out of options and our mother is putting everything she has on the line to help her (financially, mentally, and emotionally). With families and bills of our own, my brother and I can’t help. I never in a million years thought that I would be starting a LFEBridge, but I just don’t know what else to do. Please help, even if it is prayers, sharing, or advice. Any money raised will be put towards buying the trailer and property that I mentioned above or helping Amalie find and afford another place to live. Thank you!
