Update from our post almost a month ago: We sincerely thank all that have donated and helped support Gregory & Zeus in his recovery. He has been able to make all his doctor appointments with Lyft & Uber rides, he's been eating regularly and has gained some weight. Greg is extremely grateful. He's had an issue obtaining his benefits because his date of birth has been incorrect on his driver's license since he was 18, it's been a struggle trying to obtain his supporting documents, social security card, birth certificate, etc. GOOD NEWS!! Greg was selected for housing!! Once we get all his documentation straight and the County finalizes his paperwork he will be off the streets!! At this time he is still needing financial assistance for his basic needs, medical needs, prescriptions, food, water, and dog food. A week ago today I received a call from Reginal Medical Center's Emergency Room that Gregory, a 31 yo, lifelong Milpitas resident, had been badly assaulted at the Milpitas Sports Complex with a bat by three individuals, his phone was stolen and his skateboard, which is his only mode of transportation. He has a broken jaw, bone fragments shattered in his face, broken ribs, and a broken arm. They patched him up and released him. The reason why he had my number is because I've known Gregory since he was in high school with my son, 15 years ago. His father was in the military and passed when he was a child. His mom had been addicted to meth his entire life, she had also been homeless and living in an RV on the streets, she recently passed this year. He has no other living family. He's been living at the Milpitas Skatepark for the past year. Greg has been homeless for almost 10 years. The community has helped out by giving him jobs, taking him food and clothes. He has a dog, his companion, Zeus, that he doesn't want to part with, so it's been difficult to get him into a program. Our local non-profit, Hope for the Unhoused, has stepped up to help him in his healing process and to get him into a program that will accept Zeus. H4U will pick Greg up tomorrow (July 24th) to get follow-up medical treatment, he needs a cast, apply for his benefits, and help get him a phone. We're trying to raise money to help pay for much-needed living expenses, food, clothing, dog food, and the prescribed antibiotics for his injuries. H4U is diligently working on finding temporary housing, permanent housing, a shelter, a program anything at this time that will help get him off the streets. Your donations will be greatly appreciated, anything helps! Sonia
