Two days ago we woke up about 5am with our house deep in water flooding. We called 911, as we couldn’t even get out of our house to evacuate. There was at least 6 feet of water in the backyard and 4ft in the front yard completely surrounding us. We didn’t know what to do. It was scary and leaving wasn’t even an option. The current sweeping by the house looked unforgiving, so we stayed put, attempting to salvage what wasn’t already under water. Seeing my son grabbing his piggy bank and saving his sister’s stuffed animals is a memory I wish to soon forget. But here we are.Thankfully the torrential rain stopped and the water slowly receded, leaving us with inches of mud inside our house and more mud surrounding the house. Our car that was engulfed was turned around off the driveway. Our gazebo, bbq, table fire pit and lawn chairs all crushed by the storm or swept away. My photo studio, in the back, was under more than 6ft of muddy water destroying all my cameras, lenses, lighting gear, computer and so much more that has been a career lifetime of accumulating. I feel like these words are still so small to what we endured and have lost. Now we are left with the aftermath. It’s been heartbreaking throwing away so many personal items like the kids’ artwork and schoolwork, since pre-k to now, and so many of the their toys, or the love letters my wife and I wrote over the years. We deeply appreciate any help at the moment, as we take one step at a time to figure out what’s next. Thank your from the bottom of our hearts.
