On April 13th, Rosa's husband, my father, Leo, was rushed to the ER and ended up needing emergency surgery. Dad suffered from hereditary liver disease and suffered from fluid build-up and a perforated ulcer that required emergency surgery. Doctors said it would be life-threatening if he did not do it but also would be life-threatening after. They weren't wrong. His liver was in such bad shape all his other organs suffered and eventually after two months of fighting his hardest, my dad passed away on June 19th. Unfortunately, he didn't have a plan in case something happened to him. He was only 61 and had so many plans for the future, but didn't prepare for this. Now we are behind on a few things after taking off work the last two months on and off and now most importantly the mortgage is late, Dad couldn't work due to his illness and his disability checks took care of the mortgage and Rosa's full-time job and part of my income took care of everything else. Now he's gone and social security said Rosa is not eligible for benefits until she is of retirement age and even then because she works full time, she makes too much to be eligible. So we have no assistance, we have little value to sell. Myself and my brother are helping the best we can but it barely makes a dent in the mortgage or the other unexpected expenses we're running into. We are just trying to keep afloat until we can figure everything out, and be okay. Rosa does not like to ask for help but knows at this point we have gone through every avenue and we have to ask for help. She and my dad worked so hard to get their home, this is their first home and we're scared we are going to lose it. Any help at all is appreciated. Any shares or generosity at all are appreciated as we navigate and try to adjust to life with out the main pillar of our family. We are overwhelmed and the grief we are experiencing on top of all of this stress is just too much. So anything anyone does is beyond helpful. Thank you for reading. ♥
