Hello guys, Hope you are all well. Soo as a lot will already know, I have been dropping hints about an up coming project I am on a mission to achieve with in the community of Holyhead and surrounding areas. This is a massive project, one I believe will bring a huge amount of value to our people, exactly why I have chosen such a huge challenge to tackle and a very rewarding one at that too. Over this summer I have taken on the challenge of taking up 8 disabled people to the peak of Snowdon (supposed to be 1 person but I couldn’t say no to anyone) a once in a lifetime opportunity for most, we are aiming to do this in pairs. Hopefully before summer is out I can open more applications and take more guys up but we must first achieve the task at hand to spare any disappointment and upset. Our first trip is set and will be on Sunday 6th of August we will be carrying up 1 young disabled lad named Kieran, who I adore and watched grow into an amazing young gentleman who would give anyone his time, and a very very amazing young boy named Max who’s fascinated by David Attenborough and nature, his response brought tears to my eyes he’s just the sweetest kid. 2 weeks after we will tackle 2 local legends Jonny and his son Kieran both disabled, Jonny almost got to the peak before on the train but unfortunately had to wait at the cafe while his missus fished the rest of the climb with Jonny sadly seen her off, how absolutely amazing he now gets to the peak with his son by his side. Jonny and his wife entertained hundreds of people over lock down with their live stream karaoke me being one of them many times, I am very proud to be able to return the favour. What an amazing family. I have had 50 people yesterday come forward wishing to attend the first climb and I ask for anyone else who wishes to join contact me directly, all welcome, the bigger the community we create on the first trip the more likely we are to achieve the rest and hopefully many more after. So let me tell you why we’re looking to raise such a respectable sum of money… I have secured a building long term from a very helpful man who is backing the project and has even offered to donate some small funds himself, I am extremely grateful for this man he’s been very generous. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. So we are looking to open an affiliated amateur boxing club that facilitates ages from 6yrs - 9yrs, and 10-40yrs of age for competitive athletes, but we will welcome and accommodate all ages to the gymnasium of course. We will be looking to work along side the local police, and the education departments to assure that our young athletes/members are conducting themselves in a manner that our gym can be proud of, you will earn the representation of our club logo and it will be worn with pride. We really see the effects following covid and how disconnected our youngsters are, we believe saving the future lies in saving the youth and this is why I have been working endlessly to try and find a facility suitable to our needs. Unfortunately the council don’t help as they have huge new unused units being built but won’t allow them be used for a gymnasium, and will not provide the insurance band that’s needed. The only reason I and many other locals believe is to fill the leisure centre gyms “council owned” which is great but doesn’t facilitate to our needs, I have tried to ask to run an amateur boxing club from the function rooms but unfortunately was told they didn’t want to upset anyone in the community, baffling right? I know, and of course didn’t want to lose members from their BoxFit classes crossing with our classes. “Not my words” We have had every door slammed in our faces for years but with determination and persistence I believe this is now within touching distance, thanks to our community and local business owners helping us to believe what can be achieved. Boxing with out discipline is just fighting, and this is why I am passionate to work along side parents, schools and the local authorities. This is the way world class gyms are run in the states and exactly why the uk losses it’s best athletes to America. As a youngster who chucked away his education I can tell you now, if my boxing coach told me to straighten up in school or I lose my opportunity to compete and represent the club I would have had no choice but to get my head down, I bled boxing, boxing really is that, it give you purpose, direction, self control, discipline, and confidence. I believe our youngsters will thrive in every aspect of their lives after the guidance that will be provided from myself and our coaches, just like the hundreds of kids I have already worked with. I have been coaching kids from ages 5-11 years of age, classes include health&wellness as well as fitness, giving children the tools to control their emotions, practicing gratitude, discussing positive/negative emotions and how to deal with them, I will be conducting these classes from this facility on a much more regular basis as demanded by so many parents in the community and as far as Bangor/Caernarfon. I was fortunate to be invited to a local primary school recently and have been asked if I would like to put a programme together and go back on a regular basis due to the positive feed back from children and teachers. I believe what we’re doing is about to make a huge positive impact in our town and Anglesey as a whole, I will also be implementing this material into our boxing gym - meditation - breath work - Affirmation & open discussions it goes hand in hand The gym will be welcoming young people aspiring to become fitness instructors or boxing coaches and willing to provide a facility to earn money from free of charge, the money our young coaches earn will be their own, we don’t believe there’s a gym on Anglesey providing these opportunities, I was very fortunate enough to have an opportunity like this 2 years ago from a very good man, Mark Humphreys (Enzone health & Fitness, Bangor city) I can’t recommend the place enough. So this brings me to why I’d like to give these opportunities back to young people starting out - I will forever be grateful for my hand ups. Following up from the boxing, we are adding wheel chair access for a weekly boxing classes for the disabled. Also a class dedicated to children/adults with learning difficulties, I have some young children who are autistic, some adults with learning difficulties or mental health issues and I feel they are so isolated and I don’t think their is enough in the community trying to facilitate everyone from all walks of life, ages, disabilities, or learning abilities so this is going to be a game changer with in our community and something I really believe will help a great deal of not only individuals but families too. So why do we need £20,000 you ask? 1- Unfortunately the building is in quite a state, the doors need pulling out blocking up and replacing with fire doors and a safety door as the rusty half hinged steel doors don’t quite meet safety regulations for the Welsh amateur boxing association and unfortunately can not be saved. 2- The floor is a big concrete slab that’s pretty smashed up, extremely off level and needs redoing, as well as being able to facilitate wheel chair access. When we receive grants for equipment we will be putting rubber floor in place so it’s important it’s over a dry level floor. This alone will cost at least £5,000 3- The roof is asbestos and unfortunately it is to expensive to replace or have taken away but we can find a company to liquid coat and seal it making it water tight and safe. Unfortunately a huge sum again but not quite what a new roof would set us back 4- The building needs rendering in and out, facias and gutters, painting, boarding up on the inside and potentially insulation (depending on funds) lots of war wounds on the building but again amazing support from local builders it will be saved 5- We need toilets fitted, again a local plumber who’s been a huge support to many local athletes will be employed for this work. 6- It’s over grown with bushes and trees in the back, and down a tight gable end which will need specialists in to removed and kill off, this has been enemy number 1 against the roof (again local businesses will be employed) I get this is a huge ask to our small community, but I am so determined to get this project seen through I do not see failure if I have to raise every penny personally, I will somehow. I do believe that within our community I have a great deal of support, only yesterday I reached out to 17 business owners who offered to sponsor a business board at the gym for the sum of £250 annually. I have over 30 businesses still to contact. This will be goal will achieved. So with out further ado, I’d like to ask anyone who’s willing to donate, no matter how small or large the sum just please get behind what we are trying to achieve for our people and donate what you can, I will give the next 20/30 years of my life to this travelling our young athletes all over the country changing and transforming the lives of many and giving them the opportunity to box abroad and make a life for themselves, we will facilitate the local community with a place to train, if it so be you want to weight lift, great. boxing, amazing. CrossFit, cool. We are here to just push and encourage you to do what ever training makes you happy, no big mirrors, no egos, no attitudes, just positive vibes and amazing energy. The vision is so big, but I have been there and done it as a child and I believe our children deserve this, a team who is willing to commit to giving this the undivided attention it requires to run such a gym/club, Please do what you can and share as much as possible even if you can not donate just share on! Thank you from the bottom of my heart people, very very grateful. kind regards - Ryan x
