Hello everyone, my name is Maxxwell Lange. I run a non-profit local community space in Detroit called The Sanctuary. The space in the last year has hosted over 100 all ages events ranging from live music, comedy, art, film and everything else in between. Unfortunately the Sanctuary was broken into on October 25th and I was robbed heavily. I arrived at the space to find they were able to get in causing a lot of damage then went straight up to the upstairs and ransacked the place stealing the safe containing all earnings that haven't been deposited, financial records for taxes and a guitar while trashing personal items. I'm still checking to see what all else has been taken, the initial police report has been filed and sadly the evidence so far suggests it's someone who frequents the space over a random burglary which is so disheartening. Needless to say, this is a huge blow to me and the space, enough already have is damaged from the break in and stuff stolen that this could shut me down. Anyone that knows me knows I'm not one to ask for handouts, since opening the space I've poured all of my available funds and savings into this to help have a safe and welcoming place for music, art and anything In between. The goal money I'm requesting will assist me getting the building fixed up and re-secured and help with the next months bills so I can get back on my feet from this. If you like what's going on here and feel like being generous in my time of need, your kindness will not be forgotten. Anything helps, because sadly if I can't get back on track, the Sanctuary may have to close its doors.
