Hi, my name is Amanda and I am Kimber's best friend. On June 30th, her father was taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital and then air-transferred to St. Mary's Hospital in Madison, WI. He had a case of cellulitis in his leg and very rapidly went into septic shock and was admitted to the ICU and put into a medically induced coma and intubated. Kimber took an emergency flight back home on July 4th when she received the severity of his condition. Today, Wednesday, July 12, they received the news that her father's condition is worsening as he cannot breathe for himself with fluid in both lungs, he is in heart failure, and his body has been too damaged from septic shock to recover. They have made the very difficult decision to take him off of life-sustaining equipment, as it is what he would have wanted. Kimber is now on her way driving back to Florida to pick up her daughter, to then hop on a flight back to Madison the same day to say final goodbyes and handle affairs. As you can imagine how difficult this time is for Kimber, especially being an only child and close to her dad. Being a single mom, she will be navigating not only her own grief but also navigating the grief of her 9-year-old daughter, who is losing her best buddy and her grandpa. All while trying to be as supportive as possible to her stepmom, who has been married to her dad for 24 years and unfortunately shared their last anniversary in the ICU on July 2nd. Kimber is the sole provider for herself and Willow and has already missed a substantial amount of days of work through this last week while she was in Wisconsin. Now she is going to be needing to stay in Wisconsin for an extended period as they try to grieve together as a family and get everything in order. I've started this Go Fund Me to help assist in making sure Kimber does not need to worry about costs and bills while she is away, as I know that is something she is constantly worried about. Most people comment on her being warm or sunshine. I'm hoping we can show her some support, care, compassion, and sunshine as she deals with one of the most difficult situations imaginable. All funds will go directly into her account and will be used to cover rent, utilities/bills, and necessities. Let's show Kimber some love and that she's not alone. ❤️
