Dear community, My name is Samantha Noone, and I'm a close family friend of Jen and Jackie (who live on Elm Street in Waterbury, VT) I am reaching out to you today to rally around a resilient and determined family that has faced an unimaginable loss due to the recent and devastating flooding that struck Waterbury, Vermont. The aftermath of this natural disaster has left them grappling with significant challenges and setbacks that no family should have to endure. The waters have receded, and the true extent of their losses is becoming painfully clear. The list of cherished possessions and hard-earned items swept away by the floodwaters is heart-wrenching: a grill, a paddleboard that brought joy on sunny days, all their cherished patio furniture where conversations were shared, their daughter's bike and scooter that brought laughter and adventures, hockey equipment that fostered a love for sports, essential camping gear that kindled their spirit of adventure, small appliances that made daily life convenient, clothing that held sentimental value and was stored in the basement for winter, shelving units, coolers that accompanied them on countless outings, beach essentials that symbolized carefree summers, gardening tools and so much more. The impact goes beyond material possessions. This family's lively hood depends on their pop ups and summer events for their catering business. These events were abruptly canceled, resulting in an estimated loss of around $17,000 in income. Despite their efforts, the family's application for FEMA funding has been met with challenges. The family does not qualify for FEMA assistance due to a range of reasons, including not owning their home, not having flood insurance, choosing not to apply for an SBA Loan and being able to stay in their home and not having to relocate after the flooding, unfortunately led to these hurdles in accessing much-needed support. They are actively seeking new ways to receive help from the different avenues however this takes time. They’ve been waiting long enough, and need our support now. In times like these, our community's strength lies in coming together to support our neighbors in need. As friends, family, and fellow community members, we have the power to make a difference. Your generosity can help this family begin the process of rebuilding their lives and restoring their sense of security.
