Hello Friends, We are organizing this fundraiser so that Christine's many friends can have an easy way to show her some love and support during a very difficult time. As some of you know, and many likely do not, Christine's father Ed Gladney died suddenly and unexpectedly this past weekend. This is a devastating situation for anyone to deal with on its own, but it also comes at a particularly vulnerable time, as Christine is still recovering from a badly broken wrist sustained in a bike accident this past spring. She had a compound fracture and ended up needing multiple surgeries, pins, and follow-up visits with the surgeon. She is on the road to recovery but still has at least 6 months of healing, doctor visits, and physical therapy to go through before she can (hopefully) regain the full function of that hand and wrist. Needless to say, this has been challenging and made it next to impossible for her to work a full schedule for the past couple of months. We are hoping that we can raise enough money for her to get out to San Diego to be with her family there, pay for flexible/extended/dog-friendly lodging for herself while she is there, and help with the rent on her house here in New Orleans, so that she can have a little breathing room and not have to worry about finding a subletter in the midst of all of this emotional and physical upheaval, and can just be present with family as they process their grief together and deal with all of the logistics that follow an unexpected death of a parent. None of us can take the burden of grief from another's shoulders, but we can at least help lighten some of the financial worries from the load. Let's give our friend a helping hand!
