**Update 8/9: My dad was able to be woken from his sedation after 6 days in the icu! Now begins the long road to rehabilation in the hospital as he learns to speak, walk, eat, shower and hopefully a path to normalcy. I wanted to say something to thank you all for the support, I feel so grateful to everyone who helped either by donating or just being a good friend and helping me and my family through this with kind words and thoughts. It is beyond anything I ever imagined. Thank you SO MUCH My name is Dylan and on August 2, 2024 my father David was walking his dog before work like any other day when he had a fall resulting in major head trauma. We don't know anything since no one witnessed the fall but our neighbors had to call 911 for him and he was rushed to intensive care in the hospital. He is bleeding from inside his head and intubated on a mechanical breathing ventilator and feeding tubes at HCMC. There are multiple additional concerns with a high fever and pneumonia. Our family is absolutely devastated and our entire lives have been turned upside down in the matter of a few days. We are scared for our dad and hoping for the best, but it makes things more difficult because my mom just happened to be between between jobs when this happened. She has already had to refuse some full time job offers because we just dont know how much care he will need when he wakes up. We are sitting waiting with bated breath for when he can even be woken up from his induced coma but given the duration and severity of this we expect his medical bills to be very hefty. We still do not even know his prognosis whatsoever but he is in extremely critical condition. If anyone has ever met my dad they will know how healthy and physically robust he was and has always been. He used his smart watch fitness religiously recently and lived for getting his precious dogs outside for long adventures. With this accident comes huge uncertainty over whether he will ever be able to work or do those things he loved again. Thank you so much in advance for reading, and if you are able to give anything, even a dollar, I thank you from the bottom of my heart. Kind regards, Dylan
