Hello everyone, My name is Allegra, and I have started this LFEBridge to help support my high school friend, Nikki, through her second battle with breast cancer. This time she has seven months of chemotherapy to get through, and then her 2nd removal surgery & recovery. As we all know, the American healthcare system is cruelty incarnate, and DeSantis' self-owning policy banning the undocumented from working in Florida has not only trapped her partner in his native Jamaica, but also hijacked his revenue stream in the USA, so he cannot help in-person or afar with Nikki's needs & care. This is Nikki's second time fighting cancer. She is now by DeSantis' force essentially a single Mother, without both the tangible & financial support of her partner. Her daughter, Autumn (11 years old), has Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder, Oppositional Defiance Disorder, and Anxiety. Autumn's success depends on Nikki's health & ability to provide. Nikki's success now depends on how much the community of friends, family, and kind strangers can help support her through this second breast cancer diagnosis and fight. Nikki has a limited support system, and the first time she fought cancer she was still able to work. Although she often fell behind because she was so sick, & she barely made her obligations...she reached out & managed (with some help from her friends)...even through the pandemic's snarling of medical services. A little about her professional life: Nikki is a Community Involvement Specialist at an Elementary School. Her duties consist of assisting parents with district concerns, and being a teacher/administration liaison for parents. Those of you who have kids, & work in schools know a job like hers requires lots of in-person energy, running workshops, and a positive mental attitude. With fight number two of "the Big C' lined up while still weakened from before, and without the physical or financial support of her partner, Nikki needs our help. She needs to focus on getting well, which means she needs financial support to pay for bills while going through seven months of treatment & a month of post-surgery recovery. She lives very frugally, so estimates her rent, utilities, & transportation to be $3000/month. $3000 x 8 = $24,000 Please help me help her & Autumn. The world is especially cruel these days, especially to single Moms & black women...let's help prove it is not always so. I love you, Nikki. We will get through this. Class of '93, for life. <3
