My name is Gabriel and I'm in the band Cougar Beatrice with my freinds John, Jimmy, and Matt. We met in college and formed the band, playing first in Charlottesville and then expanding performances to DC, all throughout Virginia, and NYC. On July 8th, after playing a gig at The Red Lion in NYC, we parked down the street from the venue and took the train to a friend's birthday party. At 11 PM, verified by a local resident's security camera, a tall man stood snooping around the car for about 30 minutes. He then smashed the back windshield of John's van and stole our guitars and bass. The criminal took John's Suhr Modern Satin HSH, the most valuable instrument of the bunch which John has played at every single Cougar Beatrice show and on every record, my Reverend Double Agent, a guitar which while being significantly cheaper, was the most expensive item I've ever purchased, and Jimmy's custom bass, which literally cannot be replicated. Also taken were the 3 guitar cases and their contents- 7 instrument cables, 2 pedal power cords, and a leather guitar strap that my dad gave me. While these are relatively cheap compared to the instruments, they still add up and are needed for shows. We create and perform music because we love it and want to bring joy to people. In particular, the New York gigs we've played have been almost purely for exposure and the experience for our friends, some of whom even came up from Virginia for the Red Lion show. Due to travel costs, we've operated either at a loss or barely breaking even for the New York trips, which adds a particular sting to the robbery. Our renters insurance did come through, but covered less than 1/4th of the stolen item's value. On top of the theft, dealing with the local police department was chaotic and stressful. We received a parking ticket from an officer who did not report the break in, and it took 5 phone calls and 2 hours to get a officer response. We ended up waiting on the sidewalk for over 6 hours total to finalize the police report. If you're able to help us out monetarily, your generosity will be cherished. Any funds raised through this LFEBridge will go to replacing the instruments. The sentimental value and unique tones of these instruments will never be replaced, but we hope to raise enough to buy replacements of similar quality. While the donation goal aligns with the cost of the stolen gear minus our insurance settlement, any help would be appreciated, as even just being able to fund replacement of the necessities like the instrument cables, which we've already replaced to play a show last weekend, would be nice. Please consider sharing this LFEBridge with any music lovers or friends. Thank you to everyone who has supported us over the years in any manner like listening to and sharing our music, coming to shows, and buying and wearing our merch. We're going to keep making music and playing shows no matter what. Thanks for your time. -Gabe r.i.p. windsheild Shout out to the one officer who was straightforward with us and helped us tape up the van. If only she was there hour 1 instead of 6.
