Hello, this is Sam from King Kog bike shop here in Oakland, CA. Our mechanic Alexey was attacked and hit by a car during July's East Bay Bike Party. During the massive bike party event, a car with violent intentions mowed through a first cyclist and continued on through the peaceful partygoers where Alexey attempted to deter the POS driver and swerved in front of the vehicle. He was thrown through the air and remembers little else. Suffering both a concussion and torn calf muscle, he had to take an expensive ambulance ride to Highland Hospital where he waited for 9+ hours and was not seen. Without useful health insurance and no legal recourse, Alexey will be stuck seeking out and paying for his own medical care as well as replacing his bike. We hope the Bay Area bike community can support a staple in the bike world and a damn good mechanic...
