Many of you know that I finished my basement in 2003 with my dad (now deceased), including a living room area and my recording studio, Low Key Studios. In October 2024, my wife and her children moved in, and I converted the living room area to a bedroom for my 19 year old stepdaughter. For nearly 20 years my studio, Low Key Studios has recorded local musicians including the late Big Larry, Bosco and Whiteford, Ivas John Band, King Juba, Raw Flesh Eaters and many many solo artists.....this past Tuesday, when Carbondale got nearly 6 inches of rain, my sump pump failed, and my backup pump could not keep up with the rain that was coming in. The entire basement flooded, destroying all of the flooring, the bottom of the drywall, and in the process killed my dad's 1967 Ampeg bass amp and my Lesilie cabinet for my Hammond organ. My homeowners insurance had a rider for sump pump failure...and it only covered $5,000. The fees for reclamation and cutting out wet moldy drywall is $8500....and that doesn't include ANY kind of repair or restoration. First and foremost I want to restore the bedroom for my stepdaughter, and eventually would like to make my studio functional again for the current projects that I am working on. ANY HELP WOULD BE TREMENDOUSLY APPRECIATED. Any musician who donates can apply their donation toward studio time. Thanks, and God bless.
